SWAROVSKI FASHION ROCKS JEWELLERY COLLECTION AND CHRISTOPHER KANE

SWAROVSKI ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF CELEBRATORY JEWELLERY COLLECTION FOR SWAROVSKI FASHION ROCKS 2007!

Swarovski, the world’s leading producer of cut crystal, is pleased to present an exclusive collection of limited edition designs – The Swarovski Fashion Rocks Collection for The Prince’s Trust.

Following the company’s long tradition of close collaboration with the leading lights in fashion and design, Swarovski commissioned Stephen Webster, Christopher Kane, Donna D’Cruz and Tom Binns, to bring their creative visions to life, pushing boundaries of design and concept, creating a collection designed to celebrate this exciting event.

Christopher Kane, who Swarovski are supporting in his first ever show at Swarovski Fashion Rocks this year, has created the Purple Rock necklace and pendant set, a vibrant and dramatic rendering of lustrous purple crystals in amethyst, light amethyst and purple velvet.

“As soon as I became aware of the Swarovski crystal mesh I wanted to use it,” says Kane. “Swarovski Fashion Rocks was the perfect opportunity as the gradient of colour looks like the graphic equalizer on my stereo, with lights going from dark to light in a purple and lilac UV colour.”

In an equally dramatic vein, Stephen Webster’s ‘Ace of Spades’ pendant uses a Swarovski chandelier component and a spray of black and white cubic zirconia stones,

“I hope this year’s piece "Ace of Spades" captures the spirit of this brilliant event.” Says Webster “I love designing pieces for Swarovski Fashion Rocks.  There are no boundaries and the brief is simple rock and roll.”

Tom Binns drew inspiration from punk chic, he says “it started out being punk chic and now, seeing the cuff, it is more downtown city architecture. We are calling it ‘high rise cuff’ “.

Of her Professional headphones, completely crystallized in Amethyst crystals. Donna D'Cruz says ‘I'm delighted to be part of Swarovski Fashion Rocks for Prince's Trust and am thrilled to share Rasa Rocks headphones. I travel the world sharing music of every culture and I created the Rasa Rocks headphones with the vision of blending the celebration of music, my performance, and the dance of light that can only come from Swarovski crystals. Nadja Swarovski understands and supports this vision and this exciting artistic collaboration.‘

In addition to these, the company’s Daniel Swarovski line has created three stand out pieces inspired by the event’s thrilling integration of music and fashion – a black lacquered satin roll clasp choker embellished with jet stones and fifteen rows of jet crystal mesh, a piece that partners with the Fashion Rock belt; and the Cosmos ring in sterling silver with sharp jet crystals.

Nadja Swarovski, Vice President of International Communications, says

"Swarovski Fashion Rocks creates a great opportunity for Swarovski to create rock’ n’ roll inspired jewellery pieces. We are thrilled to work with Stephen Webster, Tom Binns and Christopher Kane on the creation of these pieces, as well as with our in-house design team.”

112 years ago, in 1895, Daniel Swarovski I, a Bohemian inventor and visionary, moved to the village of Wattens, Tyrol in Austria, with his newly-invented machine for cutting and polishing crystal jewellery stones. From these beginnings, which revolutionised the fashion world, Swarovski has grown to be the world’s leading producer of precision-cut crystal, for fashion, jewellery and more recently lighting, architecture and interiors. Today, the company, still based in Wattens, family-owned and run by 4th and 5th generation family members, has a global reach, with some 20,000 employees, a presence in over 120 countries and a turnover in 2006 of 2,37 billion Euros. Swarovski comprises two major divisions, one producing and selling loose crystals to the industry and the other creating design-driven finished products. Swarovski crystal components, known by their product brand names CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements for fashion and STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal for architecture and light, have become an essential ingredient of international design. Showing the creativity that lies at the heart of the company, Swarovski’s own-brand lines of accessories, jewellery and home décor are sold through more than 1150 Swarovski stores and concessions in all major fashion capitals, while the exclusive Daniel Swarovski accessories collection has become the company’s Couture signature. The Swarovski Crystal Society has close to 400,000 members worldwide, keen collectors of the celebrated crystal figurines. And in Wattens, Crystal Worlds, the multi-media crystal museum, has attracted over 7 million visitors since it was opened in 1995, as a celebration of Swarovski’s universe of innovation and inspiration, of crystal as the ultimate creative material. The Swarovski corporation also includes four industrial brands, Tyrolit®, manufacturing grinding tools, Swareflex, for road safety reflectors, Optik, producing precision optical instruments and Signity, Swarovski’s brand for genuine and created gemstones.
