CRYSTAL CRAZED WEEKEND 2005

CRYSTAL-ENCRUSTED CELEBRATIONS AND HIGH-OCTANE GLAMOUR

Swarovski Fashion Rocks was the culmination of a whole weekend of crystal-encrusted celebrations and high-octane glamour, using almost 2 million crystals. In what was almost a giant house party for the world's glitterati, the Swarovski Fashion Rocks guests were escorted from one Riviera style happening to another, starting with a Saturday night party on board the Candyscape, property magnate Nick Candy's yacht. On Sunday night, there was wine tasting at the world's most prestigious wine cellar at the Hotel De Paris a choice of dinner at the boutique hotel, Port Palace, or the magnificent barefoot drinks and supper party, thrown by Topshop, on Philip Green's three storey yacht, the Lionheart, or both, followed by the pulsating Swarovski party at Jimmy'z, Monte Carlo's celebrated nightclub, where guests danced until dawn.

Nadja Swarovski and Markus Langes-Swarovski held a press conference on Monday morning, giving an intriguing glimpse into the history and heritage of Swarovski, an outline of the Swarovski Fashion Rocks collection of accessories, and the background to Swarovski's sponsorship of this monumental event. After this it was time for guests to head down to the harbour for lunch with Jon Bon Jovi on a massive 280 foot yacht, before heading back to their hotels to prepare for the glittering evening ahead. To add to the Hollywood flavour, MAC opened a make-up salon in the Hotel Hermitage ensuring guests looked their most alluring for the Swarovski Fashion Rocks event.

After the Moët & Chandon champagne reception and the show, the guests moved into the vast dining room in the Grimaldi Forum, decorated with floating white silk banners, and the poetic Ice Branch chandeliers designed specially for the night by Tord Boontje. The 95 tables were decorated with a dramatic, Swarovski crystal centrepiece, much coveted by guests who had to be restrained from dismantling the works of art.

HSH Prince Albert sat at the centre of the room with Jerry Hall, Jeremy Irons, the Osbournes and Danna and Helmut Swarovski, Chairman and CEO of Swarovski, surrounded by the other illustrious guests, including the designers themselves, such as Giorgio Armani, Tommy Hilfiger and Donatella Versace, the world's fashion press, and industry luminaries, including tycoon Philip Green. During dinner, by world-leading chef, Alain Ducasse, guests, who were by now mixing and mingling, were entertained with a set by Jamie Cullum, after which the party relocated for more dancing and celebration.

It's only Rock n'Roll, but the message was clear 'Swarovski Crystals - the ultimate fashion rocks!'
